Our Solutions

Application Development

Since our beginning in 1973, ASM has evolved, grown, and improved in unison with other developments in information technology. Today our solutions cross multiple platforms and environments including client, client/server, mainframe and web services. Technology is a critical component of any project; however, the most critical factors of ultimate success or failure are the development processes and/or methodology used. We are confident that our methods consistently produce reliable software on schedule and within budget. We have maintained a record of success by adhering to basic principles.

ASM chooses the tools and development methodologies best suited to each specific client’s needs. The goal is to provide a usable product in the most effective way. In order to accomplish this goal, we often use Joint Application Development (JAD) and Rapid Applications Development (RAD) to effectively and quickly deliver applications to our clients. These methods also keep our clients involved so that a project results in a more complete solution, maintains overwhelming user support and is delivered more quickly and less costly than the customer’s expectations. Before starting any development project, ASM analyzes the business process to be either automated or supported. Rather than automating the current process, we assess the problem individually to benefit user specific productivity and quality of the information.

The web development tools we are now using allow us to create screens and model the flow rapidly while gaining immediate feedback, generally on a weekly basis. Once we have settled more on the design model, we follow up with the documentation using traditional tools such as VISIO, Rational Rose, or other formal UML models. We continue to support the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), high tempo mobilization, and worldwide deployments with systems and models developed using RAD.

We have delivered systems in less than 48 hours including an SSN-level tracking system for recently deployed soldiers in response to Congressional interest to tragic spousal deaths at Ft. Bragg in 2001. Another rapidly executed system was built offering summarized and detailed reporting, to support the implementation of a Rest and Relaxation (R&R) Program in Iraq.

Throughout the software development lifecycle, ASM has successfully met the demands of its customers, from requirements analysis all the way to product maintenance. ASM focuses on quality and customer satisfaction to meet the necessary demands of our defense technology.
