ASM Records a Victory with the Military’s Electronic Health Record Fairfax, VA – September 30, 2009 ASM is pleased to announce that we have been awarded, as a partner with Planned Systems International (PSI), a one year contract with the Defense Health Information Management System (DHIMS) the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application -Theater (AHLTA-T) Sustainment contract. Under this contract, ASM will provide operations, maintenance and enhancement support for AHLTA-T. We will offer our technical and professional expertise, consultative assistance, and recommendations in support of DHIMS’s IT solution that serves a transient population of patients, in both fixed (Garrison) and deployed (Theater) military facilities. DHIMS manages the acquisition, development, implementation and sustainment of the systems that comprise AHLTA. AHLTA-Theater serves as the Theater configuration of AHLTA, the military’s electronic health record, for all Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities (MTF) worldwide. AHLTA-T is a fully-compatible and deployable system having a similar look, feel, and much of the same functionality as AHLTA. With AHLTA-T, healthcare providers and other members of the clinical staff have the patient’s health history available on demand and users have the ability to enroll new patients and fully document their care. Currently AHLTA-T is operational in 15 theater hospitals, 262 Forward Resuscitative Sites and aboard 8 U.S. Naval ships. Within AHLTA-T, clinical information is updated as the patient moves from first responder and Battle Aid Station care, to the next level medical facility for resuscitative surgery or other intervention, and finally, evacuates to a tertiary care MTF where definitive care is available. The long-term goal of AHLTA-T is to provide complete and accurate documentation of patient treatment at every echelon of care. “ASM is the perfect choice,” said Frosty Price, VP of ASM’s Health Information Technology Division. “We have over 30 years experience in support of DoD IT solutions with 15 years dedicated to the MHS. Additionally, we have three years of experience and concentration on AHLTA related contracts.” George Nebeling, VP of ASM and General Manager of the ASM Health Solutions Group, expressed his optimism for the future of military health care. “I think the opportunity that this opens up is to provide better medical care to our Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen as they prosecute the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
