ASM Research Emerges Top Dog in Bid for VSSM Contract Award

Fairfax, VA - July 8, 2008

(ASM Research, Inc., Fairfax, VA) – ASM Research, Inc. has broken ground with the award of a five-year contract in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) Veterinary Services Activity through the Veterinary Services Systems Management (VSSM) System electronic medical record. ASM is working with Mobile Data Software, Inc. (MDS) to customize their existing VetInfo™ system to support the DoD mission. ASM is taking its first steps into the veterinary community with an electronic medical record focused on the Army’s animals in action. This contract will be supported at ASM’s headquarters in Fairfax, VA.

The VSSM will support the Military Health Care System’s (MHS) effort to optimize data capture, data management, data analysis, and event reporting. ASM and MDS’s VSSM solution will additionally provide the veterinary community in its needed support of Force Health Protection for the key areas of animal care and management as well as animal disease prevention and control. This contract will allow ASM to extend its traditional support of the DoD community to a new breed of America’s Service members: ASM’s electronic medical records now track, manage, and serve the DoD’s animal service members.

The VSSM contract provides support to the United States Army Medical Command and the Air Force in performing their DoD veterinary care missions. These critical missions include providing comprehensive veterinary care for U.S. Government-owned Animals; this mission is supported by appropriated funds and provides veterinary services that prevent and control animal diseases that could present a health threat to the military community. In addition, they provide veterinary support to the DoD Components for research, development, test, and evaluation, and for training activities.
